Dundalk Photographic Society were formed in 1979 and were originally called Dundalk Practical Photographic Society. From the start the Society has been affiliated to the Irish Photographic Federation ( IPF) and has taken part in and indeed hosted many regional and national events.
Various locations in town has hostedy the club including Dundalk Badminton
Club, The AOH hall, the Imperial Hotel, and we are curently proud to
call Conradh Na Gaeilge home. The society has always been very informal and welcoming in nature. Having fun with photography is the goal and the emphasis has always been on the pictures rather than an over emphasis on equipment. Beginners have always been well catered for. Since 1982 the annual Beginners Classes have been a main feature of the program. In this time more than 500 aspirational local amateur photographers have been initiated in the art and craft of photography. Since 1987 the Society has undertaking an annual weekend-away trip, most frequently to the west coast between Donegal and Clare. With up to 20 enthusiastic photographers particpating each time the weekends have been >extremely successful, both in photographic and social terms. In 2005 the club is looking forward with anticipation to making the journey to Kerry. For club highlights and results over the past number of years please see the News Archive section.
