- Pixmantec
RAW Shooter Essentials 2005 - an excellent RAW image converter and editor
if you're like me and can't afford PhotoShop CS2.
- Picasa
2 - is a free tool from Google. It is absolutely excellent at organising
your digital photographs by name, date etc automatically. Great for creating
screensavers, picture CDs & presentations also.
- Pictomio
- This is an incredibly slick photo organiser and browser. It is only suitable
for high end computers with very good graphic cards. Please check the minimum
requirements before installing, but if your computer is up to it, this is
a recommended installation.
- The
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) - an excellent image manipulation
tool (like PhotoShop except it's free). You also have to download &
install the GTK+
Runtime Environment before installing the GIMP. If you would like a
more "Photoshop-like" feel and interface to the GIMP instead of
the standard one the install GIMPshop
also.
- OpenOffice.org
- A great alternative to the Microsoft Office Suite if you're not willing
to pay over €300 for Office Professional. Has all of the functionality
for none of the cost. Can even create PDF files from your documents on the
fly!
- Adobe
Acrobat Reader - Essential for viewing downloadable forms from this
and most other sites. It's free to download from the Adobe site.
- Microsoft
RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for Windows XP - built in viewing of
Canon & Nikon RAW files in Windows Explorer in XP

Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet for Windows XP - manage and control
your ICC colour profiles in Windows XP
