DENIS WHELEHAN, AIPF, EFIAP
Denis joined the Dundalk Photographic Society in 1986 to do the Beginners' Class having purchased his first SLR camera which was an Olympus OM10. Since then, he has continued to use Olympus cameras (OM10 and OM4).

Denis won his first medal in 1990 in the Irish Photographic Federation National Slide and Print Competition in Colour Print with the image Red Scarf. Other awards he has received can been seen on the News (Archive) page. Since the mid-nineties, he has pushed the medium of colour slide film to the limit to obtain a unique grain and style all of his own. He also uses filters to add atmosphere to his landscape shots.

Denis shoots mainly colour slide and black and white, including infra-red. He also served for five years on the Irish Photographic Federation Council, three of which were as National Competition Secretary and is currently Secretary of the Dundalk Photographic Society.
