DPS Win 2004/2005 IPF North-East Title

Dundalk Photographic Society have won the 2004-2005 Irish Photographic Federation North East Regional Photographic Competition for clubs and societies. The competition was held over two rounds, the first in Navan in November, whilst the second round was held in Dundalk last week.

Dundalk took the overall award for which the club received the coveted McGahon Shield, and also were tops in each of the two sections, colour and monochrome.Judge for the final round was Mark Sedgwick from Celbridge. Top individual monochrome print winner was Brian Hopper from Dundalk, who just edged out Judy Boyle from Drogheda Photographic Club. Dundalk accrued 116 points in this monochrome section, a clear 16 points ahead of Drogheda in second place.Top colour print winner was Joe McDermott from Mid Louth Camera Club, with Brian Hopper again doing well in second place. In this colour section Dundalk P.S. accrued 111 points, 11 points ahead of Drogheda.

Dundalk and Drogheda now go forward to represent the North East region in the IPF National Finals in April. Dundalk Photographic Society are the holders of this coveted national award for ' best club in the country ' and indeed are looking forward to attempting a ' three in a row ' which would be a wonderful feat if achieved.
